If you have a catastrophe in your personal life, you can probably count your problems or causes on one hand. Illness, getting fired, divorce, moving, a death in the family.
Even a great natural disaster like a hurricane is a one-hander. High winds, storm surge, loss of electricity, property damage, evacuation.
You can handle one handers. Pick off the problems one by one and deal with each accordingly.
This credit crunch, on the other hand, is a real two-hander. Its reasons are systemic, interwoven, complex, and ever changing.
